Digisaurus

The Evolution of Music through Technology & Collaboration…

In 2014, I switched gears to focus on a project called, Digisaurus. Massively influenced by the album, “Random Access Memories,” by Daft Punk, I wanted to focus on electronically influenced music steeped in nostalgia and work with a variety of musicians. The debut EP, “No More Room for Love,” was released in 2015 and was aided by a 5 piece live show that culminated in performances at CD102.5 Summerfest and the final iteration of the CMJ Music Festival. The second single, “Without Me,” has since gone on to rack up over a million streams across various platforms online.

“No More Room for Love” EP

Inspired by the story of the Beatles humble beginnings in Hamburg (in which they played five-hour gigs, seven nights a week, for two years), I wanted to hit the road. I sold my studio, bought a van, and embarked on a 45 day solo tour with my manager, Zach, up and down the East Coast. I played 43 shows during that time at dives, houses, coffee shops, breweries, wineries...wherever would have me hone my skills as a performer. I had another tour booked for the Summer and Fall, and I was lucky enough to convince Jeff Martin and Eric Groseclose to join me on drums and bass. We operated as a three piece for the next couple of years, and released a few more singles during this time, including “I Don’t Feel Alright.”

2016 Singles

I moved around a lot…

I left Columbus in 2016, had a brief stint in Philadelphia, and then moved to LA in 2017 with my girlfriend at the time. The relationship ended shortly after, and I found myself bouncing around a few different places on the West Coast while spending 9 months out of the year on the road. Most of Digisaurus’ earnings had gone to support roles over the past couple of years, and it was time to pay myself. I started touring solo again, and handled my own booking, marketing, and accounting. I was re-invigorated by the fact that I was finally supporting myself as a full-time musician and released a new EP, “Escapades,” and a few new singles. The new releases and efforts were reciprocated with festival appearances at Lincoln Calling, Norman Music Festival, and Maximum Ames alongside some really stellar acts.

Things were going well until the Fall of 2018 when I hit a deer going 75 somewhere in the middle of Wyoming. Luckily, I wasn’t hurt (unfortunately, RIP The Deer). But my Honda Fit touring vehicle was totaled. That Honda Fit had become my home and lifeblood, fitting an absurd amount of gear, taking me from town to town, and occasionally providing a place to sleep. I’d be able to whether the storm and continue touring until the insurance paid out on the car, but I wasn’t so sure about the next time. The whole experience left me feeling quite vulnerable.

When I got back to LA that Fall, I took a serious look at my situation and decided I needed to find a place to live and a bit more security. Living expenses in LA just didn’t make sense for someone who was hardly there, so I made plans to go back to Ohio in 2019.
